Can Rabbits Eat Oranges

Can Rabbits Eat Oranges

Oranges are citrus fruits that are not only tasty (for most people) but have some great nutritional values such as important vitamins.

With oranges being so good for us, and with the peel being thrown away you’re probably wondering if you can give that bit to your bunnies. So, can rabbits eat oranges?

Rabbits can, and will eat oranges if you give them some. However, there is a high sugar content in oranges and this is very bad for your rabbits to eat. There is a high risk of stomach issues if you’re giving them anything more than a small slice or two. Don’t give them the peel either, just slice up the orange or split the segments out and give them a couple of these.

Oranges, other fruits and vegetables are all treats for rabbits. There is a misconception that rabbits eat through piles of fruits and vegetables. They diets should be made up mostly from quality Timothy Hay, fresh water being available at all times, and some pellets.

There is nothing wrong with treating your rabbits occasionally, but keep it to occasionally. Poorly rabbits are not happy rabbits!
