Can Rabbits Eat Honey

Can Rabbits Eat Honey

Are you wondering if your rabbits can eat honey and if it’s good for them to do so? It may seem strange to some but I have known people to try and feed their bunnies some honey by putting on some other foods to sweeten it up.

Sweetening up foods with honey or sugar is absolutely the wrong thing to do however. Rabbits have complex digestive systems and sugar can cause them some difficulty digesting food and will lead on to gas and diarrhea.

You should feed your rabbit plenty of Timothy hay daily to meet their fiber dietary needs. As well as some formulated pellets, plenty of fresh water, and a cup full of fresh vegetables daily. This completes their diet and will keep them happy and healthy.

So now you know, and if someone asks you, ‘can rabbits eat honey?’ – say no!
