Feeding cereals to rabbits has been happening for years. I remember seeing my parents feeding a little cereal to our rabbits growing up and it certainly didn’t do them any harm. There are endless types of cereals however, and I can’t remember the exact brand and type we fed our rabbits.
Honey Nut Cheerios are a popular cereal than small animals and rodents will happily eat. So, can rabbits eat honey nut cheerios safely and do they enjoy them? Unfortunately not. You need to keep those Cheerios to yourself. They contain too much sugar and honey for rabbits to safely eat and will cause your poor little bunnies some digestive problems.
You need to keep a constant supply of hay available for your bunnies to graze on. This ensures their dietary needs of high fiber and vitamins are met. Feed them some pellets as directed too, you can find instructions on the box as to the amounts as it depends on your size and breed of rabbit. Then there is some fresh vegetables each day and plenty of water.
Keep treats to a minimum, and keep harmful foods like Cheerios well away from their hutch.
