If you have guinea pigs as well as rabbits you might be concerned about a bit of crossover between their foods. If you have a house rabbit there is a good chance they are going to come across foods and other things to nibble on, that’s what curious rabbits do.
So, can rabbits eat guinea pig food if they find some? Well, they can, it’s not going to make them sick in small amounts. There are a few similarities in the diets of these two animals, and their foods offer a lot of the same nutritional benefit. Although guinea pigs need a lot more vitamin C, and rabbits need more fiber.
Its not ideal and I wouldn’t recommend it if you can avoid it. Rabbits have sensitive digestive systems and you really need to try and keep them on their own diet. This consists of Timothy hay, some formulated pellets, as well as some fresh vegetables and leafy greens.
Keep treats and other less than ideal foods to a minimum. It’s always tempting to treat our pets, and they love eating treats. But we need to keep their health as a priority.
