Can Rabbits Eat Grapefruit

Grapefruit is a citrus fruit that has a sour taste that can be quite sharp on the palate I’m sure you’ll agree. It’s not a fruit for everyone, although I enjoy having someone in the morning sometimes. But, can rabbits eat grapefruit and if so how much is ok?

Grapefruit is ok in small amounts and will not do you bunnies any harm. It’s a fruit though, and like all fruits should only be given to them in small amounts. Fruits like grapefruits are high in sugars which are difficult for bunnies to digest.

They will eat up slices of grapefruit quickly, but if you notice any gas or stomach upsets stop feeding it to them immediately.

You should feed your rabbit plenty of Timothy hay daily to meet their fiber dietary needs. As well as some formulated pellets, plenty of fresh water, and a cup full of fresh vegetables daily. This completes their diet and will keep them happy and healthy.
