Can Rabbits Eat Garlic

Garlic is a vegetable that belongs to the family that includes leeks, chives, scallions, and onions. These vegetables has a number of positive health benefits to humans. But, can rabbits eat garlic and will they benefit from them too?

No, absolutely not. Garlic includes some compounds that are extremely harmful to rabbits. Garlic can have an immunosuppressive effect as well as causing an anaphylactic reactions so it should never be given to bunnies in any form whatsoever.

Keep your rabbit on a diet of good quality hay, some pellets, and some fresh vegetables each day. Between 10-15% of their diet can be made up from leafy greens and veggies, anything else is a treat.

Fruits make good treats if you want to find something interesting for your pet to eat. Fruit has too much sugar in to give in too large an amount however. So keep it to a treat on occasion if you want your bunny to stay healthy.
