Can Rabbits Eat Dried Cranberries

There is no end to the amount of different foods I hear people talking about feeding their bunnies. It’s fun seeing what treats they enjoy and rabbits are usually more than happy to give anything a try.

You do need to be very careful what you’re giving them however, even some innocent looking foods can be toxic to rabbits and cause some stomach issues.

One question that came up recently was, can rabbits eat dried cranberries?

Cranberries are a fruit so this puts them in the treats category right away. Which means you should only give some to them once a week or so. You have to be careful with cranberries however as a lot of the packets of dried cranberries have a lot of added sugar. There is already some natural sugar in there, which isn’t good for bunnies so I wouldn’t give them dried cranberries personally.

If you’ve already been feeding them some don’t worry. I’d just stop doing so. Stick with what is good and healthy for them. Timothy hay, pellets, fresh water, and a cup of healthy greens and vegetables daily. This will keep your bunny happy and healthy, the fiber keeps their digestive system working well, and the occasional treat is exactly that, a treat.
