Rabbits are fun and enjoyable pets to keep. They have a lot of love to give, and its fun to give them treats and try different foods to see how happy it makes them. So, can rabbits eat cheese or other dairy products safely?
This is something I’ve seen and heard a lot of people asking about and I will say right away – no, don’t feed rabbits any dairy products. There are a lot of ingredients that just do not agree with bunnies and these products can cause them some serious health issues.
Rabbits have fragile digestive systems when it comes to eating different foods and you can’t be too careful. Don’t attempt to feed them any cheeses, milks, or other dairy products. Rabbits need to eat a lot of quality Timothy hay for their fiber and nutritional intake, supplemented with pellets and drinking plenty of fresh water.
If you want to treat your bunny that choose fruits that are known to be safe in small amounts on rare occasions. Such as apples and pieces of bananas. But keep treats to a minimum no matter how tempting it is to spoil your bunny.
