Can Rabbits Eat Jicama

Can Rabbits Eat Jicama

If you are looking for different foods you can feed your rabbits to keep them interested there is a list of what rabbits can and cannot eat here. There are hundreds of different vegetables and fruits out there though and it’s hard to cover everything.

An interesting question that I came across recently was, can rabbits eat jicama? I will say firstly that no, rabbits cannot eat this vegetable it’s known to be toxic to them so if you do happen to have it where you live don’t give any to your bunnies.

Jicama is a vegetable most of us will not come across. It’s native to Mexico and is also called a Mexican yam bean, or Mexican turnip. It looks like a flatter potato, and it’s the root that is used mostly in some recipes.

My advice is stick to giving your rabbits lots of good quality hay, they will graze on this throughout the day. Give them some vegetables and pellets to round-off their diet with lots of nutrients and vitamins and you have a happy and healthy bunny. Keep the treats and exotic vegetables to a minimum if they are safe.
