Hazelnuts bloom during spring and are a popular food around most of the world. They are also known as filbert nuts, or cobnuts, and I’m sure you will agree they are really tasty. This doesn’t mean they are for rabbits however, so can rabbits eat hazelnuts?
No. Hazelnuts are not ideal for rabbits, and I wouldn’t even give them some as treats personally. Arguably a small amount as a treat may not do most rabbits any harm, but it’s better to be safe than sorry so I recommended avoiding feeding your bunnies this type of nut.
To keep your rabbit’s dietary needs met you should keep a constant supply of hay available for them to graze on. Feed them some pellets as directed on their box as the amounts depends on your size and breed of rabbit. Then there is some fresh vegetables each day and plenty of water.
Not a lot to ask really, rabbits are easy to keep as pets which makes them a popular choice for children to look after.
